Izakaya is a dining style devoted to small plates served with sake, beer or other Japanese alcoholic beverages. In Japan small shops that sell Sake began to also sell small servings of food to go along with the sake and beer. Most of these establishments were small locations for locals to come after work and socialize over a small meal and a few drinks. The feel and layout of these restaurants is very intimate but not necessarily quite and subdued. You can expect to see folks eating, drinking and chatting with their neighbor about the days events, or other small talk. If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese food spot in Santa Fe, you’ve found it.
At Shibumi Ramenya, we believe that the interaction with our customers and between our customers is as important as the food and the sake at the table. Our menu changes seasonally and is always prepared to order with fresh, and local ingredients whenever possible. You can expect to be greeted at the door with an enthusiastic “Irasshai mase” which means welcome.
Come in and order a few izakaya dishes to share with friends. Enjoy them with some of our premium sake or Japanese beer. Go slow and enjoy the interaction of the chefs as they prepare your meal. Please feel free to talk to our chefs about the food and learn about these unique dishes. Some key items not to be missed are the home made spicy pork gyoza, grilled pork belly, and the fresh tempura.
